The Swansea Community Boat Has Arrived

The Swansea Community Boat is now safely berthed at the Museum landing stage in Swansea Marina. It was brought from Leeds by road, launched onto Kings Dock with the kind permission of ABP, then sailed round to the marina by Ceri Davies of Swansea Watersports.
          
The arrival of the Swansea Community Boat was a proud moment for our Trust volunteers - and for those of you who sponsored the project or supported it in other ways. When the Community Boat becomes operational later this year, there will be a series of events to thank our supporters.

Thanks to funding from the Welsh Government  'Invest Wales', which was match funded by firms and charities, the  Swansea Community Boat is set to become a wonderful asset for the Swansea Bay region. The Community Boat is based at the Swansea Museum Historic Vessels Collection, thanks to the superb support given by the City and County of Swansea. There are still some things to do to prepare the Community Boat for its new role, such as installing a wheel chair lift and fitting inflatable life rafts so it can  be licensed to carry up to 50 persons. The Trust is  also applying for grants to employ staff to operate the Community Boat for the enjoyment of children, older people, disabled people and the wider community.
